Dr. Motilal Gupta – A Visionary on a Mission to Transform Lives and Empower the Underprivileged

New Delhi [India], December 10: Octogenarian Dr. Motilal Gupta is a man of multifaceted personality who has dedicated his life to the welfare of humanity and has brought about a significant transformation in the lives of thousands of people. With his superb management skills, enthusiasm, and hard work, he has been serving humanity silently but sincerely for years without rest and without craving recognition.

From child welfare, environmental sustainability, nutrition, relief and rehabilitation, and distributing clothes to tribal and poor people in remote villages and backward areas, to supporting widow mothers of Radhakund Vrindavan, organizing mass marriages for poor girls, empowering women, providing free and high-quality education, skill development with placements, imparting advanced computer education, establishing a cardiology department with free OPD services, and distributing sanitary pads to rural girls and women—Dr. Gupta has consistently been a role model for others.

An extraordinary philanthropist and saintly figure, he relinquished his business in 1986 and thus began the journey of Sai Dham, guided by the tenet “Sewa Parmo Dharm” (Service is the supreme duty), along with his wife, Smt. Kanta Gupta. He donated 3 acres of his prime land for the establishment of Sai Dham.

As the founder and chairman of Sai Dham, registered in 1988 as the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Society, a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization based in Faridabad, he established the Shirdi Sai Baba School to provide free, quality education to underprivileged children along with food, uniforms, books, and stationery. Dr. Gupta dreams that one day every child in India will have access to quality education.

Under Dr. Motilal Gupta’s leadership, the organization currently operates two schools where over 2,000 underprivileged children receive free, excellent education along with food, uniforms, books, study materials, healthcare, and excursions. The Shirdi Sai Baba School in Faridabad is affiliated with CBSE up to the 12th standard and has consistently achieved outstanding results, with a 100% pass rate in CBSE Board exams for both 10th and 12th grades year after year.

In 2013, a branch of the Shirdi Sai Baba School was established in the remote village of Niswara, in Mahoba District, Uttar Pradesh, to provide free, modern education to disadvantaged rural children.
“Education makes it possible for a person to support themselves financially, raises their awareness of various topics, from healthcare to proper social behavior, and helps them develop into better citizens. Without a doubt, education is the most potent driver of societal change,” says Dr. Gupta.

Dr. Gupta was born in 1934 in Faridabad, India, into the well-known Mehndiwala family. A scholar throughout his academic career and a gold medalist from Banaras Hindu University, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1955.

During the first and second phases of COVID-19, Dr. Gupta made significant contributions, including creating an oxygen concentrator bank at Sai Dham to provide free supplies to those in need. He also distributed food to families in Faridabad affected by COVID, along with thermometers, masks, oximeters, air mattresses, and medicines.

All the services provided by his NGO are offered without regard to gender, caste, religion, or any other category. An ardent devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba, he has been working across various sectors to bring meaningful changes to society. The Shirdi Sai Baba Schools also offer regular dispensaries, medical exams, and therapies to address healthcare needs. Poor parents who cannot afford expensive medical treatments now have a reduced burden.

Importantly, the school has demonstrated exceptional academic results since its inception. In the 2018-19 academic year, the school achieved a 100% success rate in CBSE Board Examinations. Most students scored above 90%, with one girl achieving 99% in Hindi, three students scoring 94% in Mathematics, English, and Computers, and another scoring 96% in Social Science.

Regardless of caste or creed, Dr. Gupta has been organizing mass marriages for approximately 100 girls annually from economically disadvantaged sections of society, providing them with all necessary household items at no cost to their parents.

Dr. Motilal Gupta’s unwavering dedication and selfless service have left an indelible mark on countless lives, setting an inspiring example of how a single individual can transform society.
